I’ve been curious about this book for a long time…
Ms. Julia Fox just launched her memoir book called “Down the Drain” and ever since the TikTok, internet, and fashion hype around her started, I’ve been curious about how raw and real that book could be.
I started following her on social media right when she joined TikTok and began posting videos where she talks very openly about her thoughts, her body image, her highly publicized one-month relationship with Ye, and the outfits she wears to events. She’s got a lot of attention during the pandemic years, and now her book is finally out, and I’m excited to read it.
As I saw her content and the way the public perceives her as this crazy, very outspoken, and somewhat contradictory person/woman/artist, I began to question if she was capable of writing a good book, just like society does, and I doubted “what good things she had to say.” However, with more exposure to her work and consuming her content over the years, I started to understand and admire her. As crazy as she may seem, she’s real, for real.
I doubt myself every day, and I believe many young women do too.
Can I write good texts for you guys to read on my blog? Am I good at my job (or jobs)? Are those even real jobs, or should I work harder to consider myself a hardworking person? Could these texts be taken seriously someday? Maybe, but I will have to truly write things… what does “truly write” mean?
Sorry, I don’t want to delve too deep into those questions here, but I just wanted to highlight some of my insecurities that I sometimes realize are not unique to me, perhaps they are universal.
And also, I’m not saying that insecurity is solely a women’s problem, but we have to acknowledge that it is definitely more common for us to doubt a woman’s capabilities.
So yes, Julia Fox is a writer, and I believe she has the ability to write a good book, whatever that may mean to me or you.
We just have to admit she’s a vibe.
